Poised for major growth in 2012, Artspan’s migration to cloud server brings highly enhanced flexibility, stability, and scalability.

The cloud architecture we've created allows us the flexibility to expand immediately on-demand, so we can overcome critical challenges.

Artspan, (http://www.artspan.com), a top contemporary art destination and leading provider of self-managed websites and marketing tools for artists, has completed a full migration of hosted websites and infrastructure to a robust cloud server platform. The new cloud server will offer greater security, a more stable work environment, ability to handle traffic surges, and most importantly, the flexibility for unlimited growth.

This migration was a complex technical undertaking, encompassing Artspan’s entire network of 4,000 full-featured, ecommerce-enabled websites with over 875,000 image files. The websites are self-managed and fully customizable as to layout, fonts, colors, and more.

“Artspan has long distinguished itself from other artist website providers with its cutting edge technology and its commitment to continually improve its service,” says Eric Sparre, Founder and Director of Artspan. “All major websites can suffer the stress of sudden surges in traffic, whether due to overwhelmingly successful viral marketing, or through denial of service attacks. The cloud architecture we've created allows us the flexibility to expand immediately on-demand, so we can overcome these critical challenges.”

Caoimhin Barry, Artspan Chief Operating Officer and head of technology, adds, “Moving to the cloud offers significant long-term savings in money and technical resources, enabling us to focus on some ambitious ventures into new markets.”

In late 2011, Artspan launched dedicated services in the U.K. as well as native-language support for German speaking artists; goals for 2012 include continued expansion into foreign markets, offering a platform for new areas such as interior design and antiques, as well as enhanced art sales portals on Artspan’s central website.

About Artspan
Founded in 1999 by painter and entrepreneur Eric Sparre, Artspan.com is a major contemporary art destination connecting producers and consumers of contemporary art , featuring close to 4,000 artist and artisan websites in many different categories, including painting, photography, jewelry, and sculpture. Artspan members include artists from around the country and the world, and Artspan.com is consistently top-ranked for the term Contemporary Art by Google and Yahoo. Artspan member websites can be managed by anyone – no technical background needed -- and have a variety of features, all at a very competitive price. Artspan is exceptional among online artist communities and providers of template artist websites, in offering artists the best of both worlds: Member artists benefit from being part of a searchable, high-traffic community while maintaining the autonomy of their own URL. Members can also access a wealth of marketing information and, in an age of limited or non-existent customer service, the Artspan Help Desk can be reached by phone or email.

"Throughout history, artists have been dependent on dealers and galleries; now they can do their own marketing. It’s a very empowering thing, and it levels the playing field." - Eric Sparre, Managing Director of Artspan, The Wall Street Journal, 6/16/08
