Teams from around the country coming to Austin for the Texas’ most competitive kickball tournament ever

It looks like we’ll have at least four or five of the country’s elite teams coming to town to battle it out. On top of that, we’ve got a beautiful host city in Austin and we expect to have great weather.

The Circuit, the only national, professional tour of top-flight, competitive kickball tournaments, hosts its third tournament of the year on April 21 in Austin Texas. The 2nd Annual Lone Star Kickball Open will be the stage for some of kickball’s elite teams competing for cash prizes, overall Circuit Cup points and another shot at kickball glory.

“The Lone Star Open is shaping up to be a very competitive tournament,” said Matthew Kemph, Founder/CEO of Kickball365. “It looks like we’ll have at least four or five of the country’s elite teams coming to town to battle it out. On top of that, we’ve got a beautiful host city in Austin and we expect to have great weather. Austin by itself is just a great town. You add to that the excitement and the fun that is The Circuit and you’ve got the makings of a great weekend. Once again Jon Simon and his event management team will be at the helm, so we expect a very well run tournament.”

First held in 2011, the Lone Star Kickball Open is a Kickball365 Circuit Event presented by the International Kickball Federation (http://www.theikf.com). The tournament will draw more than 15 teams and 250 players from across the country, including teams from Florida, New York, and of course, Texas. Among the competitive teams taking part are a finalist and two teams that made the Sweet 16 from the 2011 Circuit Cup Championship in Las Vegas, a finalist in the 2012 South Florida Kickball Open, and the returning champion from the 2011 Lone Star Open.

“As with all of our events, we’ll be providing entertaining events throughout the weekend that will feature many of the attractions in Austin,” continued Kemph. “We realize that teams travel from far away for Circuit events, so making this a complete experience for them is our priority. We’re very encouraged by the growth that this tournament has seen and we’re expecting a highly competitive day of kickball.”

The Lone Star Kickball Open is the third stop of The Circuit 2012. Teams will go on to compete over the coming months to earn official Circuit Cup points at events across the country. Those points earned will be used to determine the seeding for the true ultimate championship at the conclusion of the year, the Circuit Cup Championship presented by Complete Discovery Source (http://www.cdslegal.com). The Champion of the Circuit Cup will win $10,000 and the top sixteen (16) teams will also receive cash prizes. The full 2012 schedule can be found at http://www.ThisIsKickball.com.
