Hear Frank Rijsberman, Director of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Global Development Program, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation describe the foundation’s sanitation-focused approach to grant-making and its recent “Reinvent the Toilet’ call to action at the 2012 BlueTech Forum on May 30.

Frank Rijsberman, a prominent voice on global water issues, will keynote the 2012 BlueTech Forum, one of the industry's premier conferences featuring innovative technologies in the water and wastewater treatment industries.

Known as THE industry event for water tech professionals, the informative and dynamic BlueTech Forum provides game changing ideas for its high-level attendees, and brings together water industry leaders, investors, and start-ups to address and discuss the development, financing and commercialization of innovative water technologies.

Rijsberman will challenge BlueTech Forum tech innovators to invent a better solution to sanitation. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation believes that modern science and technology can deliver a re-engineered solution for sanitation and are investing $41.5 million worth of grants to meet the challenge of our decade. The world needs a new toilet to replace the flushing porcelain pot, a relic of the 1700s.

“We want a radical, high tech and low-cost solution. Our grant-making creates a real the opportunity to reach the bottom of the pyramid market and the possibility to create a technology that has applications in the developed world as well,” Rijsberman says.

Presented by O2 Environmental, under the leadership of CEO Paul O’Callaghan, the one-day, BlueTech Forum features speakers with thought provoking perspectives on industry issues, opportunities, challenges, and technologies. This year’s impressive group of speakers will address emerging markets, new technology solutions, and water in the green building arena.

The BlueTech Forum Technology Showcase, a differentiating feature of water tech events, showcases companies with disruptive ideas and strong go-to-market strategies. Company CEOs will outline their technology, target market, business strategy and company stage (e.g., alternative desalination, oil and gas industry water treatment technologies; energy and resources from water; bottom of the pyramid technologies, agricultural water/wastewater treatment; and biotechnology and IT solutions applied to water/stormwater).
