The Mom's Choice Awards has selected You Are a Social Detective! Explaining Social Thinking to Kids by Michelle Garcia Winner and Pamela Crooke, as among the best in family-friendly products and services. The book has won a Silver Award in the 2012 competition.

“We are delighted to receive this recognition,” said Winner and Crooke. “Kids love discovering that every one of us is a social detective and learning strategies to figure out what others are thinking or planning to do next, and what they mean by their words and actions. It gives them more confidence during social interactions.”

Presented in an entertaining comic book format and written for use with children K-5, You Are a Social Detective breaks down the often-confusing social world and teaches kids to use their eyes, ears, and brains to develop their own social detective skills. The book is particularly useful for students with social skills and social communication challenges, such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, as well as other learning differences. Sample lesson plans help adults introduce Winner’s engaging Social Thinking vocabulary to kids in a way that makes learning fun. You Are a Social Detective! is the first book in the widely-popular Social Thinking teaching series, Superflex and the Team of Unthinkables, created by Winner and Stephanie Madrigal.
