With the staggering increase in compliance audits today, in accordance with the HITECH Act, covered entities need to be prepared. If an audit identifies significant compliance issues with the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, a formal enforcement is likely to take place; civil penalties or monetary settlements are possible outcomes.
With an aggressive timeline, once OCR notifies a covered entity that they will be audited, they will have a 10-day deadline to complete and provide requested documentation. This is followed by an onsite audit. Any covered entity can be selected for audit.
Learn about the potential risk areas and how prepare for an OCR audit to avoid civil penalties and formal enforcement with our latest webinar.
