esd electronics introduces the ECX-DIO8 EtherCAT® I/O Module with 8 digital I/O points, each configurable as input or output.

EtherCAT® - Ethernet for Control Automation Technology - is an open high performance Ethernet-based fieldbus system. The development goal of EtherCAT® was to apply Ethernet to automation applications which require short cycle times in combination with low communication jitter - for synchronization purposes - and low hardware costs.

Typical application fields for EtherCAT® are machine controls (e.g. semiconductor tools, metal forming, packaging, injection molding, assembly systems, printing machines, robotics, and more).

esd electronics has extended its line of EtherCAT® software and hardware products: The esd electronics ECX-DIO8 module represents an EtherCAT® Slave device to manage up to 8 configurable digital inputs and outputs.

The nominal I/O-voltage value is 24 V. Nominal output current is 0.5 A at 24 V.

The ECX-DIO8 module provides industrial digital in-/outputs with two-wire connection in combination with service-friendly wiring of supply voltage.

The power supply can be applied via the InRailBus connector (TBUS-connector) integrated in the mounting rail or separately via the clamp-connection.

The 100BASE-TX EtherCAT® interface is compatible to IEEE 802.3.

Configuration is done by EtherCAT® master (XML file).

The module is designed for hat-rail mounting in a control enclosure. The digital I/O connectors and status LEDs are mounted in the front panel.
