A crack caused by metal corrosion is being blamed for the incident at Ronaldsway which saw a Manx2 flight crash land.

Analysis by the Air Accident Investigation Branch has found that there was a crack in part of the right landing gear, which appeared to collapse when the flight from Leeds Bradford landed on the Island earlier this month.

The organisation is recommending that the procedure for identifying cracks be reviewed, as an inspection just eleven days before the incident failed to detect the corrosion, as did a test of the landing gear ten months ago.
