Nationally-syndicated Radio Show Returns to Where It All Began to Kick off Atlantic City’s 1st Annual Multi-Cultural Heritage Festival

Many Atlantic City residents still remember when the Tom Joyner Morning Show first came to town back in 1995. At that time 96.1 WTTH-FM had just started broadcasting the Tom Joyner Show & was just the fledgling syndicator’s third affiliate station. Yet thousands of fans lined up outside the Taj Mahal Casino, many of them camping out all night, just to get a glimpse of Tom Joyner & his national radio show.

With its loyal fan base expanding steadily since 1994, the Tom Joyner Morning Show has now grown to be the most listened-to morning program in America, with 122 affiliates & 8 million listeners each week. Thanks to the joint efforts of WTTH-FM & the City of Atlantic City Tom Joyner will soon return to where it all began, as he originates his entire national program live from the 96.1 WTTH-FM studios in West Atlantic City on Friday, June 1, 2012.

96.1 WTTH-FM, known locally as “The Touch,” began broadcasting in 1992 & is celebrating 20 years of service to the Atlantic City marketplace with its exclusive Urban Adult Contemporary format. “We’re thrilled to provide our listeners with the opportunity to interact up close & personal with Tom & his co-hosts Sybil Wilkes & J Anthony Brown,” stated Equity Communications President/Owner Gary Fisher. “It’s the perfect way to kick off Atlantic City’s first annual Multi-Cultural Heritage Festival, which is a weekend-long celebration of entertainment, sporting events, parades & concerts highlighting Atlantic City’s diversity.”

“We’re committed to making this festival an iconic legendary event that’s sure to please generations of Atlantic City’s multi-cultural families for years to come,” added Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford.“Our festival will be market-wide in scope across the breadth of Atlantic City’s world famous assets, including but not limited to Gardner’s Basin, Bader Field, Sandcastle Stadium (Bernie Robbins Stadium) & the world famous Atlantic City beaches & boardwalks. We will be proclaiming Friday June 1st as Tom Joyner Day & will be presenting him with a Key to the City at the Surf Stadium meet & greet event.”

WTTH-FM listeners will be able to win free 96.1 VIP Meet & Greet passes through the WTTH contest line, on the station’s Facebook Fan page facebook.com/961wtthfm, or online @ 961WTTH.com.
