What better way to celebrate this rite of passage than with all your best friends in a remote canyon on a wild and scenic river in Colorado.

River Runners, a whitewater rafting company on the Arkansas River with locations in Buena Vista, Colo. and Canon City, Colo., is now booking exclusive Colorado overnight rafting bachelor party packages for the upcoming season scheduled for May 1 – September 3 (Labor Day), 2012.

Eileen Peterson, general manager at River Runners, said the long-time river outfitter offers three overnight rafting packages on the Arkansas River at a 10 percent discount to bachelor and bachelorette parties: Advanced Overnight; Family Overnight; and Three-day Ultimate.

“Every year we get more and more bachelor parties booking overnight rafting trips in Colorado,” Peterson said. “Last season we started offering special packages and discounts and it was so popular we are doing it again for 2012.”

Peterson said that these all-inclusive rafting trips are available on advanced reservations for groups of six or more, and that food, group camping equipment, transportation and river-related gear is provided.

“These specialty rafting trips stay at a secluded camp in Browns Canyon,” Peterson said. “Beer and other spirits are allowed at camp, but are not provided by River Runners.”

Matt McGregor of Wheat Ridge, Colo. organized an overnight rafting trip this past summer through River Runners for a friend who was getting married. He said it was a refreshing take on the traditional bachelor party and that everyone had a great time.

“What better way to celebrate this rite of passage than with all your best friends in a remote canyon on a wild and scenic river in Colorado,” McGregor said. “The whitewater was exciting, the guides were awesome and the bride-to-be was happy to know we stayed out of trouble.”

According to Peterson River Runners can make arrangements for half-day and full-day trips as well and that the River Runners Riverside Rafting Resort makes a great base camp for other Colorado activities. Group campsites are available for $50 per night or the entire campground can be reserved for $150. Each site includes a fire pit, picnic tables and access to hot showers, restrooms, sand volleyball, horseshoes and the River Runners Riverside Bar and Grill. The Riverside Rafting Resort is also the meeting place for daily rafting trips down Pine Creek (class V), The Numbers (class IV) and Browns Canyon (class III-IV).

Peterson also recommends the River Runners Royal Gorge Rafting Center for bachelor parties looking for a simple day trip just one hour from Colorado Springs and two hours from Denver. Colorado whitewater rafting trips through the Royal Gorge (class IV-V) and Bighorn Sheep Canyon (class III-IV) sections of the Arkansas River meet at this facility, which is located eight miles west of Canon City on US Hwy 50, across from the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park turn-off.

In 2012, River Runners will celebrate 40 years of whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River in Colorado. Fully guided river trips will be offered May 1 – August 3 (Labor Day), seven days a week, rain or shine.
