Ireland’s number one registrar and hosting company, Blacknight announces sponsorship of the 9th annual Cork Lifelong Learning Festival.

The festival, which begins Monday March 26 and concludes Sunday April 1, 2012
promotes and celebrates learning of all kinds. Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to join the seven-day festival. All events are free to the public.
The festival’s motto which is “Investigate, Participate, Celebrate” encompasses it’s purpose, inviting the public to watch demonstrations, try out skills, and see others, from the young to the old, show off what they are learning.
For Michele Neylon, co-founder of Blacknight, the Cork Lifelong Learning Festival holds personal significance: “We at Blacknight feel that a good education is priceless and are thrilled with the opportunity to continue to sponsor the Lifelong Learning Festival. I was raised in Cork and my family has long been involved with the festival.”
There are hundreds of events during the weeklong festival including talks and walks, performances, taster sessions, workshops and displays. The events cover a wide range of interest from fingerprint analysis, Handball, practicing French or Irish language skills, to exploring biodiversity in a graveyard. At many of the events attendees are encouraged to try something new.

Michele Neylon continues: “Education goes beyond what one learns in the classroom and the citizens of Cork are fortunate to have a community that overwhelmingly values learning. Growing up in this environment certainly instilled a lifelong love of learning in me.”

The festival is organised by the Learning Forum, set up under the Cork City Development Board to address the key theme of Cork as a City of Learning.
