Bray, Ireland (PRWEB UK) 29 March 2012
John Power (CEO) today announced the launch of Ostia Software Solutions Limited. Ostia Solutions is a provider of pioneering platform-agnostic data integration software solutions to customers who have large quantities of hard to reach or even inaccessible data. The company specialises in the rapid extraction of information from any number of sources, systems or databases so it may be combined and presented at the point of consumption – be it PC, tablet or mobile device. They also provide the ‘how’ to business people who have become infuriated by the barriers inherent in their technology infrastructure preventing them delivering vital, real-time business information to the points where it is most needed.
John Power described the company’s flagship product, Portus as “empowering businesses to unlock the value of corporate data resources as business information – information from anywhere, here, now”. He added “Portus addresses customers who have considerable wealth of data locked up in multiple systems with a wide range of underlying technologies, database systems, operating environments and access mechanisms”.
Portus is a truly open and modern product. It has been built using the tools and technologies that have powered the social media revolution and applies them to the industry-wide problem of consistent and live access, in real time, to structured (and unstructured) data. Portus exploits the latest technologies to quickly and easily get at an organisation’s data wherever it is on the network, be it on mainframe or server, and present it (and modify, if required) to any network device, using business defined views. This is all achieved without making any application or database changes, creating duplicates of data or having to install any client software.
Gartner believes that the market which Portus addresses is very large and continues to grow fast. In their October 2011 Report, Gartner* states that: ‘the data integration tools market amounted to $1.63 billion at the end of 2010, an increase of 20.5% from 2009. The market continues to demonstrate healthy growth, and we expect a year-on-year increase of approximately 15% in 2011’.
Forrester^ has stated that business users ‘… want fast, real-time and reliable information to make business decisions; while IT wants to lower costs, minimize complexity and improve operational efficiency’.
Ahmad Abu El-Ata (Chairman) said “We are convinced of the power of the Portus technology, when compared with the offerings of key market leaders, and its ability to address critical business needs. A number of business and technology executives have come together with me to develop an approach to exploit it – we sense that the markets are now ripe for a technology that enables businesses to realise the value of their stored information far more readily. The result is the decision to launch Ostia Software Solutions Limited.”
