Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, L.L.P., a full-service business and commercial law firm with offices in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Norman, has named Varley H. “Sandy” Taylor Jr. head of the firm’s Trust, Estate Planning and Taxation Practice Group.
Taylor recently retired from The University of Tulsa College of Law, where he had served as Associate Professor of Law since 2005. Prior to his faculty position at TU, Taylor had practiced law with Doerner Saunders since 1971, focusing on federal and state taxation, business planning, estate planning, elder law, non-profit organizations, intellectual property, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and employee benefits. Since 2005, he has remained Of Counsel at Doerner Saunders.

Taylor is the author and co-author of several tax handbooks, including West Publishing Co.’s estate planning volumes of Vernon’s Oklahoma Legal Forms with Commentary. Since its inception in 1994, he has been the co-author of West’s annual Oklahoma Probate and Estate Planning Deskbook with the late R. Robert Huff and is the principal author of West’s Oklahoma Probate Law and Practice. He also has been a contributing author of the American Bar Association’s annual Sales and Use Tax Handbook since its first publication in 1988.
Taylor received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University in 1968, his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Michigan in 1971, and his Master of Laws (Taxation) from New York University in 1973.
He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of tax law and has an AV® Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating, which recognizes legal ability and ethical standards. He is a past member of the editorial board of The Journal of Multistate Taxation.
