The Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association, MEMSA, announced today it has improved its state association membership program for Missouri EMS professionals as one of several steps toward a new goal to revitalize and expand the organization – a campaign called 100% MEMSA under the direction of new executive director, Steve Sanborn. http://memsa.org/membership
“We want to engage all Missouri EMS professionals to take a new look not only at MEMSA but at EMS in the state of Missouri too,” Sanborn said. “The work and service provided by EMS professionals is often underestimated, perhaps even by the industry itself. We think it’s time to elevate Missouri EMS to the status of a cause, as in a ‘great cause.’”
The purpose of the MEMSA membership is to represent the individual voices of EMS professionals on the regional, state and national level, through lobbying and legislative activity that supports EMS in Missouri. http://memsa.org/membership
MEMSA membership offers a range of member options with annual fees of $25 or less for individuals and group/EMS agency membership plans. There is also a $100 lifetime membership offering which may be purchased for a limited time. The program offers a $10,000 Accidental Death & Dismemberment policy (up from $3,000) to protect EMS professionals and their families.
Sanborn says the overarching goal of MEMSA is to become the leading state EMS association in the nation. “We want to be the best, and that can’t happen without the direct participation and input of our EMS colleagues across the state.”
Since 1983, MEMSA has also provided a statewide network for professional communication among EMS peers, continued professional development with discounts at annual conferences that offer Continuing Education Units, as well as testing, training, news and information. MEMSA also manages statewide practical examinations for EMT, EMT-B and EMT-P licensure. http://memsa.org/membership
“The history of the MEMSA membership program shows our colleagues are willing to support our nonprofit association and its goals as a statewide EMS organization,” said MEMSA president, Ken Koch, “which means they are behind the efforts of others in Missouri EMS who make personal sacrifices of time, money and effort for the sake of the EMS industry.”
Sanborn says serious statewide communications improvements such as a web/blog site, mobile applications, a newly formatted newsletter, video and more are coming soon.
"With 17,000 EMS professionals in Missouri, you can see just how significant our presence can become as a force for the good of EMS," Sanborn said.
