Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 30, 2012
PC Drivers Headquarters, Inc. today announced it has released a version of their Driver Detective® software for all pre-release versions of Windows 8 including the latest Windows 8 CTP. Based on their top-selling device driver matching and deployment product, Driver Detective® Beta for Windows 8 will automatically match the best device-enabling software (aka 'drivers') for any PC based system –making it dramatically easier and faster to perform testing of all devices on Windows 8.
Driver Detective® Beta for Windows 8 will be available at http://www.drivershq.com/windows8.aspx and can be used to perform an unlimited number of device scans and driver installations at no charge prior to July 2012.
“Here at Drivers HQ, we use Driver Detective® to facilitate testing Windows 8,” said Drivers HQ CTO Brian Hurd. “Driver Detective® allows us to automatically provision drivers to different Windows 8 machines along with their other device-associated software in a fraction of the time it would otherwise take. Then after our software scans the PC, we create cloud-based snapshots of the PC's hardware configuration along with links to the downloads for each device driver available at our DriverSupport.com portal. By using our software to provision the drivers, we save countless hours. That’s where the idea of offering Driver Detective® to others testing Windows 8 comes in. I strongly recommend anyone testing Windows 8 get their free copy and see how much time they can save.”
Driver Detective® Beta will work with all pre-release and RC (release candidate) builds. The PC must be running Windows 8 (physical or virtual) for the free version to work.
“Driver Detective® is a ‘Day Zero’ utility,” explained Bogdan Odulinski, Drivers HQ’s VP Business Development. “You want to have it downloaded and ready to use as soon as you set up a Windows 8 environment so that all hardware can be used immediately, not a week or two afterwards. That’s why we encourage everyone to download our software right away.”
Driver Detective® is the number one best selling driver delivery software in the world and it is the only software that is continuously updated by a dedicated team of content aggregators and engineers.
When asked why Drivers HQ was offering this software for free, Odulinski was blunt. “We could probably charge for this and do pretty well so far as short term revenue,” he admitted. “But more importantly, we want to do what we can to support the Windows ecosystem. And, if users have a great experience with our software when testing Windows 8, then Drivers HQ will benefit in the future when we release the final Windows 8 version of Driver Detective®.”
The software features an easy-to-use flow. Just install on any PC, start the scan, and follow the recommendations. For more complicated scenarios, Drivers HQ provides additional support at their DriverSupport.com portal.
“Anyone testing Windows 8 probably wants to see all their peripheral devices working,” continued Odulinski. “Driver Detective will enable all devices such as webcams, printers, scanners, and much more including the latest video drivers, network drivers, and more. No need search on Google and or navigate obtuse device manufacturers' web sites. It’s fully automated yet allows you to choose what to install or update. Driver Detective automatically does the rest saving you significant time and hassle!”
Driver Detective® does not alter the original driver packages and delivers them in the exact same format they were published at the manufacturers’ sites. So there is no risk to a user’s current environment, making it the perfect companion to help test Windows 8.

For Windows 7, Vista, and XP customers, the current version of Driver Detective including a driver migration tool for OS upgrades and downgrades, is available for sale at the official Driver Detective web site.
