After weeks of planning and preparation, Strategic Consulting Solutions announces the success of its first government contracting summit in Charleston, SC. As the leading provider of compliant accounting solutions for government contractors, SCS wanted to share their knowledge and expertise to area businesses currently conducting business with the federal government or entertaining the prospect of government contracting.

The variety of speakers was applicable for today's environment.

Those goals were met on March 22nd when Strategic Consulting Solutions introduced dozens of attendees to an exemplary panel of experts of the GovCon industry and to one another for productive networking and learning opportunities. Topics included cost accounting system compliance, cost proposal preparation, DCAA audits, Earned Value Management and more. The presentations were interactive and many valid questions were asked and answered.

Mark Amtower, keynote speaker and founder of Amtower & Associates provided invaluable insight into the behind the scenes workings of government contracting. As co-founder and co-director of the Government Market Master Educational Program, Mr. Amtower was well positioned to share his knowledge of how companies can get on the radar of government influencers and prime contractors. Mark is also the author of “Selling to the Government: What It takes to Compete and Win in the World’s Largest Market” with lucky audience members winning signed copies of the book.

Helping SCS reach their goals were Deltek and Parsons Consulting Solutions. The core of a premier government contractor is a compliant accounting system. Software maker Deltek creates the accounting tools necessary to make an accounting system compliant in the complex realm of government accounting. As Deltek partners, SCS and PCS utilize those tools along with their expertise in Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS) to support their customer’s needs. In combination, the summit brought together all of the essentials for successful government contracting.

Feedback from the event was positive with such comments as “the variety of speakers was applicable for today’s environment” and “…a lot of good information was covered in a 6 to 8 hour period.” Participants were encouraged to gather during the breaks to learn more about one another’s business, share experiences and explore the possibilities of strategic alliances.
