A rare early 19th century Chinese Rose Mandarin Palace Punch Bowl, is one of the top lots in the upcoming Fine Asian Art and Antiques Auction to be held by Kaminski Auctions at their auction gallery March 30th and 31st at117 Elliott Street, Beverly, Massachusetts.
The interior of this outstanding piece features Mandarins and ladies holding court in a continuous palace scene around a central vignette. There is an elaborate border of blue bats, birds, blossoms, and coins along the interior rim, with the exterior decorated with large panels depicting figures at leisure in courtyard scenes. Also, interspersed are vignettes of blossoms and birds, with the rim embellished with a border of auspicious fruits, chrysanthemums and butterflies on gilt ground, gilt details and rim, 8 1/2" x 22 3/4" diameter. The bowl is from private collector in Nahant, MA.
