In the six months since IronmongeryDirect officially opened its new 50,000 ft² premises in Basildon the company has been handling a significantly higher volume of orders; a 20% growth since moving to the new site. Whilst orders for each team member in the operations department, per day, has risen and is currently standing at 15% growth.
In addition, the company has recruited new staff for positions within the marketing department, operations and customer contact centre. The building has scope to house 250 staff, current head count is now at 108.
The move will enable the business, already the UK’s largest online and mail order supplier of ironmongery products to the trade, to keep up the momentum of its fast business growth to date. The additional space allows the business to increase product lines offered to 20,000 within the next four years and further enhance its next-day, direct to the customer service.
Wayne Lysaght-Mason Managing Director at IronmongeryDirect commented: “Since we moved the new infrastructure has put us in a much stronger position to propel our growth and move towards our target of £50million turnover within the next few years. Part of this strategy is to grow our team to maintain the high level of service offered, from when the customer places an order through to the safe arrival of products on-site the very next day.”
The premises at Scimitar Park and brand new business management systems represent an investment of over £2.5 million.
