Over the last six years, Inside Lacrosse has set the standard for promoting lacrosse with events such as the Konica Minolta Big City Classic (Title sponsor: Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc.). This early season extravaganza has attracted more than 47,000 fans in its three-year history and has been a showcase for the top teams and players in college lacrosse.
The wait is over as this year's Big City Classic is set for this Sunday April 1st at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. with a lineup that once again pits the top teams in college lacrosse against each other. Three of the six participating teams are ranked in the top 10 of the current Nike/Inside Lacrosse media poll.
Game No. 1 – #6 Notre Dame vs St. John’s (1p)
Game No. 2 – #8 Duke vs #14 Syracuse (4p)
Game No. 3 – #12 North Carolina vs #1 Johns Hopkins (6.30p)

BIG EAST rivals Notre Dame and St. John’s will face off in the first game at 1:00 p.m. After playing in the 2010 Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic, Notre Dame went on to advance to the national championship game. The Fighting Irish followed that up with a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals last season. The Irish (6-1) enter the weekend ranked in the top 10 and prepared for another appearance on the big stage. St. John’s has a 5-3 record and is back in the Big City Classic after defeating Rutgers 9-8 in last year’s event
The second game pairs No. 8 Duke and No. 14 Syracuse. The Orange turned aside a late rally by the Blue Devils to earn a 13-11 victory in the 2011 Big City Classic. Duke (7-3) brings back a talented roster primed for a run to a sixth straight final four. Syracuse (4-3) has new-look lineup still looking to find its rhythm after losing a decorated senior class from a year ago. However, the expectations remain high for an Orange program that consistently manages to reload rather than rebuild.
No. 12 North Carolina and No. 1 Johns Hopkins meet in the third game at 6:30 p.m. The Blue Jays are coming off a thrilling 11-10 overtime win over previously top-ranked Virginia. That victory pushed the undefeated Blue Jays (8-0) to the top of the national polls for the first time since early in the 2008 season. Johns Hopkins will be challenged by a North Carolina (7-3) team that is loaded with talent but searching for consistency. A fourth quarter rally last week against Maryland earned the Tar Heels a hard fought 11-10 win that could signal a start of something special.
