Trinity Health announced today that Marcus B. Shipley has been appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Trinity Health, Novi, effective April 2, 2012. As Trinity Health’s new CIO, Shipley, 41, will lead Trinity Information Services and report to Kedrick Adkins, President Integrated Services. Through executive leadership and by providing direction and oversight for information technology at Trinity Health, he will support the organization’s imperatives for improving quality of care, patient safety and financial performance. Shipley succeeds Paul Browne, who has taken on a new role as Trinity Health’s Senior Vice President Integration Services.

Shipley comes to Trinity Health from CIGNA, a leading health services organization, where most recently he served as Vice President Information Technology, IT Infrastructure and Operations. In this role, Shipley was responsible for infrastructure service delivery and quality for data centers, voice and data networks, technology platforms, engineering, help desk, and print operations.
Shipley’s career spans 20 years in information technology across multiple industries, including 12 years in executive-level positions leading solution delivery, infrastructure services and enterprise architecture. He has served Fidelity, where he was Chief Information Officer of Fidelity HR Services, Claims Desk Corporation, where he was Chief Technology Officer, and United Services Automobile Association, where he began his career as a programmer/analyst. Shipley is an alumnus of the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he earned an MBA and a BBA in information technology.
