BOKA Powell Announces Six Staff Promotions

Dallas-based architecture and design firm continues to grow its practice areas of commercial office, health care, higher education and mixed use planning.

BOKA Powell was the architect of record for the new Omni Dallas hotel, which opened in late 2011.

BOKA Powell LLC announced today that six of its staff members received promotions this month. The Dallas-based architecture and design firm has promoted Steve Word, Eric Van Hyfte, Steve Dewitt, Nic Jung, Michael Krentz and C. Vincent Miller.

BOKA Powell's promotions are detailed below.

Steve Word, CSI – Associate Principal – Dallas office: Steve Word has more than 27 years of experience in the architectural and construction building field. His projects have included university and university housing, sports facilities, municipal, medical, educational, retail, mixed use and non-profit developments. Recently, Word worked on residential projects including Barton Place in Austin and Cassidy Ridge in Colorado. Word holds a B.S. in Architectural Drafting and Business Studies from Texas Bible College and Durham Technical Business College.

Eric Van Hyfte, AIA, LEED BD+C – Senior Associate – Austin office: Eric Van Hyfte, AIA, is a LEED-accredited professional with 16 years of wide ranging experience who places a strong focus on “green” design. His capabilities include master planning, design, project management, and construction administration. He is known for his project management skills which have been honed on numerous corporate, retail and mixed-use development projects, including the W Austin Hotel & Residences, RiverView Apartments and South Lamar Plaza in Austin. Van Hyfte holds a B.S. in Architectural Studies from University of Illinois at Urbana, and a Master of Architecture from University of Texas at Austin.

Steve Dewitt – Associate – Dallas office: With 14 years of software experience in the digital design community, Dewitt has worked on data centers, healthcare facilities, student housing, retail and mixed use developments, including South Lamar Plaza in Austin and Granite Park Three in Plano. Formerly the firm’s BIM (Building Information Modeling) manager, Dewitt has presented at several national BIM conferences, most recently at Autodesk University in Las Vegas, NV. His current work focuses on internal and external software collaboration, as well as data extraction.

Nic Jung – Associate – Dallas office: Formerly a project designer, Jung helped to implement a firm-wide utilization of BIM (Building Information Modeling). Jung’s experience includes large-scale projects including South Lamar Plaza in Austin, Forest Park Medical Center in Frisco, Texas Tech Residence & Dining Hall and the Methodist Hospital for Surgery in Addison. He has a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as well as a Master of Architecture from Texas A&M University.

Michael Krentz, AIA LEED AP – Associate – Austin office: Krentz has 18 years of experience spanning everything from office, retail and industrial endeavors, to 1,000,000 square foot mixed-use projects, including South Lamar Plaza and Pervasive Software. He has a B.S. in Design, Architecture/Urban Planning from Arizona State.

C. Vincent Miller, AIA – Associate – Dallas office: Miller’s career includes success in preparing contract documents, specifications and construction administration for federal, commercial and other facilities. He interfaces with clients at all levels, and coordinates consultant activities. His latest projects include South Lamar Plaza in Austin, the Methodist Hospital for Surgery in Addison and Forest Park Medical Center in Frisco. Miller holds a B.A. in Architecture, Structures from Texas Tech University.
