"XOS Digital is the only organization with the expertise and domain knowledge to deliver on a project of this magnitude,” said Nick Turreso, video coordinator, Purdue University.
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) March 30, 2012
XOS Digital, Inc., the leading provider of content management solutions and digital media services for collegiate and professional sports organizations, today announced the completion of audio/visual installations, including interactive fan elements and coaching technologies, within Purdue University’s Mackey Arena. The announcement was made today by Chris McCleary, CEO, XOS Digital.
XOS designed custom fan-facing technologies to develop Purdue’s new “Ring of Honor.” This new area within the arena includes interactive trivia kiosks and an in-venue iPad application for VIP ticket holders.
“The Boilermakers have a rich history of both men’s and women’s basketball, and the Ring of Honor pays tribute to each team’s historical legends,” McCleary said. “Our expertise in interactive technology, digital media and coaching workflow enabled Purdue to work with a single organization to accomplish all of its goals. This project focused on enhancing the fan experience and providing the latest digital technology to both coaches and players.”
The Mackey Arena is home to The Mackey Plaza and Ring of Honor, both of which digitally capture the history and the current state of Purdue athletics through a variety of video content. As part of the Ring of Honor, XOS Digital implemented technology and hardware components, while long-time creative partner Downstream, a Portland-based design firm, provided creative services for the fan-facing elements which include:
- Meet the Coach – Biographies of current coaches
- Coaching Legends – Previous coaches’ records, biographies and video clips
- Purdue Teams – Men’s and women’s teams, players and history
- Memorable Moments – Video highlights of memorable games
- Purdue in the Pros – Biographies, stats and video clips of players in the NBA and WNBA
- Purdue Pride – Trivia on Boilermakers history and traditions
Fans can now test their Purdue knowledge or brush up on historical team content via a variety of formats such as interactive trivia, games, photomontages and video – all with dynamic graphics using touch-screen monitors on individual kiosks. Each kiosk is outfitted with an LED display, speakers and control buttons. The Mackey Plaza holds 15 LED displays, all showcasing current content from each sport. All kiosks are controlled using an AMX system which allows administrators to update and control content from any web-enabled device.
Once inside the arena, a select group of 66 VIP basketball season ticket holders receive brand new Apple iPads, each with the custom Purdue app. These include replays not shown on the video board. The app also includes player biographies and scores of other BIG TEN games.
In addition, XOS Digital provided advanced digital coaching technology designed to enhance coaching workflow and player development. XOS designed and installed A/V systems in both the men’s and women’s video editing rooms, players’ lounge and locker rooms. XOS outfitted the practice courts with XOS Thunder HD Remote Camera Systems. These allow the coaching staff to capture practice footage and distribute it to a courtside monitoring station, as well as to both men’s and women’s video editing rooms.
"XOS Digital is the only organization with the expertise and domain knowledge to deliver on a project of this magnitude,” said Nick Turreso, video coordinator, Purdue University. “We are excited about the improvements to our facility, and are eager to hear feedback from all participates using the new technologies.”
