TrekDesk’s Movement Revolution is trying to spread the message of 10,000 steps a day. We walk less than ½ of that and are paying the price in terms of bad health as a result.

A study released this week from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) titled The Annual Report to the Nation on the Status of Cancer shows several types of cancers linked to obesity and inactivity rose every year from 1999 to 2008. TrekDesk Treadmill Desks have been shown to be an effective tool to counteract this dilemma, allowing employees to lose weight and remain active throughout the day without leaving their desks.

The study showed rates of kidney, pancreatic, lower esophagal, and uterus cancers all registered increases in the study time frame. The data further reinforced the increasing body of evidence that links sedentary lifestyles and obesity to cancer. According to the CDC, one third of cancers in developed nations are directly attributable to excess body weight and a lack of physical activity. Excess weight has also been shown to decrease the survival rates of cancer patients.

“TrekDesk’s Movement Revolution is trying to spread the message of 10,000 steps a day,” stated Steve Bordley, CEO of TrekDesk Treadmill Desks. “We walk less than ½ of that and are paying the price in terms of bad health as a result.”
