Throughout the last four years of enduring tough economic times, many people have reevaluated their careers and lifestyles. For some, this evaluation has led them to rediscover their dreams. Maui Wowi Hawaiian’s newest Franchisees, Mark and Laura Kemp in Oxford, Michigan, are two of those who have decided to begin a new adventure and embark on a business opportunity they can call their own.
“I’ve worked in corporate America for over 20 years but believe the only way to truly be happy is to open my own company,” said Mark. “It’s time to do something we enjoy and finally be responsible for our own destiny.”
Mark wanted to leave behind the corporate lifestyle and create a change of pace that would bring more happiness to his and his family’s lives. Laura has enjoyed working as a teacher for 14 years. “I’m one of those teachers that really love it!” said Laura. She plans to continue teaching as her and Mark begin to build their Maui Wowi business by serving all-natural fresh fruit smoothies and premium gourmet Hawaiian coffees at events and venues throughout their community. “We are excited to be taking charge of our future and doing something we’re passionate about. We are making it happen,” said Laura.
As the two of them set out to find the perfect franchise, they discovered that Maui Wowi’s flexible business models would allow them to grow at their own pace. “We foresee this new journey having endless opportunities. The catering, the mobile Ka’anapali carts, the kiosks and the stores all capture a whole list of clientele and opportunities, which will continue to grow and grow,” said Mark.
Now having more control of their future, Mark and Laura are excited to bring healthy beverage options and a fun atmosphere to their community. “This is a phenomenal product and we want to share that with other people,” said Laura. Mark’s love for the Hawaiian lifestyle is now possible to experience on a daily basis without ever having to board a plane. “I can dream about Hawaii but Maui Wowi allows that dream to come true. With the tiki huts, the Hawaiian flare and the taste of the Hawaiian coffees and smoothies; it brings you back for a short trip,” he said.
Mark and Laura plan to start with a mobile Ka’anapali cart, with the hopes of owning two carts by the end of the year. Their overall long term vision is to eventually purchase an empire agreement that would grant them the rights to own up to ten Maui Wowi Hawaiian operating units.
