Largest Earth Day Party will Connect People to Wildlife Conservation

By participating in the Party for the Planet™ at your local zoo or aquarium, you are helping to support conservation locally and worldwide

More than 100 of the top zoos and aquariums across North America are throwing the 6th Annual Party for the Planet™ – the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America.

“Every year, millions of zoo and aquarium visitors connect with wildlife, learn about nature, and become involved in protecting our planet for the future,” said AZA President & CEO Jim Maddy. “By participating in the Party for the Planet™ at your local zoo or aquarium, you are helping to support conservation locally and worldwide.”

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than with the planet’s amazing and diverse wildlife? Local AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums are the perfect place to connect with nature and conservation in your community.

On Earth Day, April 22nd, and throughout the month of April, AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums across North America will host events to raise awareness about conservation, sustainable living, and making our Earth a better place to live. Scheduled Party for the Planet™ events include live animal presentations, give-aways, crafts, keeper talks, environmental activities, and more!

AZA invites families who are passionate about education, and interested in learning more about wildlife conservation, to enter the Rhythm of Conservation Sweepstakes. Enter online at the official Rhythm of Conservation Sweepstakes website and return once daily to enter again and learn about a different animal each day.

Some of the great prizes up for grabs include a four-day, three-night family package for two adults and two children to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge with Savannah View; a NOOK Tablet™; and more! This exciting opportunity is made possible by K12, America’s leader in K–12 online education.

Founded in 1924, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation, education, science, and recreation. Look for the AZA logo whenever you visit a zoo or aquarium as your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you, and a better future for all living things. The AZA is a leader in global wildlife conservation, and your link to helping animals in their native habitats. To learn more, visit http://www.aza.org.
