The Made In America Store is known for selling products that are 100% American made, including some hometown vendors from Buffalo, New York. Buffalo’s own, Michael F. Rizzo, has written a book about the rise and fall of the Korney Gang in the 1920s. The group known as the "Polish Mafia" now have a well documented book explaining their story.
Michael F. Rizzo’s book, “They Call Me Korney,” highlights a prohibition time in Buffalo, New York, where bootlegger John Kwiatkowski met up with Tony Kalkiewicz, an already seasoned gangster. The two committed dozens of crimes across Buffalo, along with Sigmund “Ziggy” Plocharski and Stephen “Bolly” Zioklowski, who also tagged along with the gang.
The book, “They Call Me Korney,” also details the personal lives of each individual gang member and the many crimes they committed as well as their arrests, prosecutions and even one’s electrocution. The book also includes theories of possible police intimidation, corruption and a handful of headlines that the Korney Gang had made.
Michael F. Rizzo was born in Buffalo, New York and had an array of jobs in the Western New York area. Rizzo eventually started “The Mob Tours” in 2008 where he had bus tours of former Mafia sites in Niagara Falls. The bus tour eventually evolved into “The Best Tours In Buffalo ,” which now includes walking tours of Buffalo, New York.
