AMC College receives FESHE recognition.

As a regionally accredited institution, Anna Maria College, was awarded FESHE recognition for developing state-of- the art undergraduate fire science degree programs featuring FESHE model core courses as standard. FESHE recognition provides Anna Maria graduates an additional level of nationally recognized accomplishment.

On Monday, March 12, 2012 Anna Maria College was presented its FESHE Certificate of National Recognition from Dr. Denis Onieal, Superintendent of the National Fire Academy (NFA). The presentation took place at the second annual Higher Education Summit held at the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services in Stow, Massachusetts.

The Certificate was received by Everett G. Pierce, Director of Fire Science programs at Anna Maria College. A 45 year leader in the field, Chief Pierce himself holds a CFO designation held by fewer than 700 fire professionals worldwide. As Chief Pierce stated, “This recognition highlights that not only do we meet or exceed the nationally recognized requirement of FESHE but that our programs are among the most relevant and state-of-the-art available to fire and emergency services professionals seeking advancement.”

The mission of the FESHE recognition program is to promote higher education and to enhance the visibility of the fire and emergency services as essential and esteemed professions. Preparing today’s professionals to reduce loss of life and property from fire and other hazards is at the center of the FESHE model core associate’s and bachelor’s courses now incorporated into Anna Maria College’s curriculum.

A major benefit for achieving the FESHE designation is that Anna Maria Fire Services degree programs’ students receive an NFA certificate of completion for each course now that the College has received FESHE recognition.

According to Chief Pierce, “The work for this recognition has taken place over several years and involved subject matter experts and course designers from across the United States. Courses were developed, designed and reviewed within the College and externally by national fire and emergency service leaders. Highly qualified instructors were then trained in the most effective delivery of these courses. We are proud to continue the Anna Maria College tradition of always leading the way in providing our students with the finest in fire and emergency services programming.”

Anna Maria College offers an extensive suite of bachelor’s and master’s programs, many ideally suited to help degree holders step forward as leaders in such highly essential fields as fire services and emergency management.

For individuals seeking to protect life and property and promote public well being, as well as advance their careers and earning potential, the Fire Services programs at Anna Maria College have gained even greater value with the new FESHE recognition. Ideal for the working professional, Anna Maria College is widely known for its state-of-the-art online course expertise, small classes and the high level of personal attention given to each online student.
