When writing his new book, That Gentle Whisper: Discerning the Voice of God: One Man’s Journey- Heart to Heart with God (published by WestBow Press), author Robert L. Jacobus took his cue from Genesis 3:8 (“…then the man and his wife heard the voice of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the evening...”).

Hearing “the voice of the Lord God” led Jacobus to question, “God’s voice – what does it sound like?; Can we hear it?; and, what does it mean for our lives?” He explores these questions in That Gentle Whisper.

“In this book of word and art, we look together at how we can be more confident in our minds and have more assurance in our spirits that we are hearing, and being open to following, the Voice of God,” explains Jacobus. “The book is about the many ways that God speaks to us and the hindrances that keep us from hearing Him.”

“Robert Jacobus describes his book as ‘One Man’s Journey,’ but I think this book really addresses all of our journeys to hear and discern the will of God. Clearly, there is no more important task in this life.

Relying heavily on scripture and his own faith journey, Robert offers practical advice that will help you hear the voice of God and discern His will for your life. It may be a ‘gently whisper’ but the impact of discerning the will of God is powerful and life changing.”

—Bob Russell, retired senior minister, Southeast Christian Church (Louisville, Ky.) and author of 11 books, including “When God Answers Prayer” and “When God Builds a Church.”

After finishing That Gentle Whisper, Jacobus hopes readers will gain a closer relationship with God.
