New York, NY (PRWEB) April 01, 2012
Family Video announced today that its Round It Up for Lymphoma campaign has raised nearly $650,000 for the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF). LRF is the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding lymphoma research and to serving those touched by the disease. Round It Up for Lymphoma launched March 15 in Family Video stores nationwide, and will continue through April 1.
“We have witnessed a remarkable response from our customers and we are hopeful the support and generosity will continue through the close of the campaign this Sunday, April 1,” said Family Video President Keith Hoogland. “Round it Up for Lymphoma is raising both awareness and money. Some people don’t know that lymphoma is cancer and the disease has personally affected others. The money and time donated by our customers, employees and community members has been incredible!”
Round It Up for Lymphoma offers Family Video customers the opportunity to support cancer research by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar or making a donation directly to LRF. Donors may make their contribution at any Family Video location or online at lymphoma.org/familyvideo. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised through the campaign will be donated to the LRF research program, which funds millions of dollars in innovative lymphoma research every year.
“Our mission to eradicate lymphoma can only be realized with greater investment in lymphoma research,” said Diane Blum, LRF Chief Executive Officer. “The generosity of Family Video’s customers and of everyone supporting Round It Up for Lymphoma brings us closer to this goal.”
Lymphoma is the most common type of blood cancer and the most common cancer of childhood. According to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, approximately 79,000 Americans will receive a lymphoma diagnosis in 2012 alone and more than half a million Americans are currently living with some form of the disease.
