ABC-CLIO is pleased to announce the World Religions: Belief, Culture, and Controversy database has been recognized as a finalist in the 2012 CODiE Awards in the Best Reference Solutions category.

The CODiE Awards are sponsored by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) and have been recognizing outstanding achievement in software for over 26 years. Judges seek to find original and content-rich programs and websites that enhance the classroom curriculum and improve teacher efficiency. Products undergo thorough review by experts in the field whose selection criteria include content quality, potential for broad classroom use, and technical value.

The World Religions database is the newest addition to ABC-CLIO's suite of online solutions. Launched in August of last year, it is designed to supplement the teaching and studying of religion across the globe, making student research on faith and belief across humanity easier, and enabling a deeper understanding of the complex issues facing us in the 21st century.

"We are pleased to be recognized for this accomplishment in education software," noted Becky Snyder, President of ABC-CLIO. "World Religions is the result of a monumental collaborative effort from noted scholars, experts, and writers from various fields of study. By offering a product that combines three key elements—a comprehensive resource library, a virtual textbook, and multiple perspectives to further critical thinking skills—we are honored to be selected as a finalist."

World Religions is the fourth product to be named a finalist in the last five years, a testament to the continuous and ongoing development of exemplary education products from ABC-CLIO.

Winners of the 2012 CODiES will be announced on May 7 during a special dinner held in conjunction with the Ed Tech Industry Summit for all Education Technology categories.

In addition to World Religions: Belief, Culture, and Controversy, ABC-CLIO Solutions offers a wide range of database topics that include American History; World Geography; World History: Ancient and Medieval Eras; World History: The Modern Era; Pop Culture Universe; The World at War; Issues: Understanding Controversy and Society; Daily Life Through History; The American Indian Experience; The African American Experience; and The Latino American Experience.
