Sierra Tucson offers clients compassionate care and clinical excellence

It’s clear to them that there is no other facility in the country that can offer the kind of educational experience Sierra Tucson can when it comes to the assessment and treatment of complex, dual-disorder patients from cultures all over the world.

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) April 02, 2012

Internationally renowned treatment center, Sierra Tucson, has announced that it will broaden its relationship with the University of Arizona to promote clinical excellence with Psychiatric Resident Physicians. This larger relationship will allow the U of A residents to rotate through various clinical services at the facility, providing them with a broader exposure to the core, program-specific services as well as the wide variety of integrative services provided at Sierra Tucson. In addition, selected psychiatric staff at Sierra Tucson will have clinical faculty appointments at the university.

“Sierra Tucson is able to offer a very unique learning experience for these young psychiatrists and psychologists in training,” said Dr. Robert Johnson, D.O., Sierra Tucson’s Medical Director since 2008. “In addition to shadowing experienced clinicians, they are given the opportunity to experience first-hand what it’s like to participate in various group, cognitive-behavioral, psycho-educational, experiential, adventure, family systems, physiologic and mindfulness-based therapies. They leave contemplating how they will incorporate some of these methods into their own work with patients and families.”

Recognized for its compassionate care and clinical excellence, Sierra Tucson is one of this nation’s top treatment centers dedicated to the prevention, education, and treatment of addictions and behavioral disorders. Sierra Tucson’s highly skilled professionals understand the importance of educating future addictions and behavioral health medical professionals, and the facility currently has several U of A doctoral (Ph.D.) students rotating through its Psychology Department.

“It’s clear to them that there is no other facility in the country that can offer the kind of educational experience Sierra Tucson can when it comes to the assessment and treatment of complex, dual-disorder patients from cultures all over the world,” said Dr. Johnson.
