Considering that there are thousands of cat websites across the internet, I feel very honored to have received such an award. More importantly, the fact that this was an award chosen by readers, not a panel of judges, means the world to me.

Philadelphia area cat veterinarian, Shelby Neely, VMD, has received About.com's 2012 Readers' Choice Award in the category of Best Website about Cat Health for her website, AskTheCatDoctor.com. This honor is bestowed upon the website that best presents cat health care information at no cost in a professional manner, but in language that the average lay person can understand. The category is reserved for informational websites maintained by veterinary colleges, universities or individual veterinarians.
In her newsletter, Mews from The Cat Doctor, an elated Dr. Neely wrote, “Considering that there are thousands of cat websites across the internet, I feel very honored to have received such an award. More importantly, the fact that this was an award chosen by readers, not a panel of judges, means the world to me.”
Franny Syufy, About.Com Cats Guide, posted, "AskTheCatDoctor surged ahead quickly and coasted to an easy victory with 85% of the vote. The award absolutely couldn't have gone to a more deserving person. I have learned so much already from the short time I have been visiting the website."
Christopher, a recent visitor to the website, expressed the sentiment that drove the website to a landslide victory: "Dr. Neely, I feel I must take a moment to thank you and tell you how very much appreciated you are. Before I found your website here, I tried in vain searching the internet to find someone who would answer a few concerns I had about my kitties without charging me what I consider to be a lot of money for 30 seconds of their time. You are the only Cat Doctor I've found who gives of yourself this way, and I can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. I don't know you and will likely never have the honor of meeting you, but it's obvious to me you are a wonderful person. I thank you and my kitties thank you! (Lovie, Leah, Lily, Flower, Zaphod, C.C., Beau Beau & Spencer. All rescues)."
