Before the 4th of January 2012, business customers using the this 1st class service could claim against lost or stolen packages. Now there is no compensation, and the liability rests with the Sender. This change in their shipper's terms and conditions has cost Freedom Cigarettes in excess of one thousand pounds in the past month alone. Freedom has been evaluating different postal services which firstly offer compensation and secondly prove receipt of delivery.

In the past couple of months we have experienced a much larger amount go missing, which is not acceptable as we now cannot claim for these items. This sort of loss for any business regardless of how well it’s doing is not something that can be ignored. It also means that our customers are not receiving their products on time.
