Phone Interview Pro today announced that it has signed a contract with the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind to offer an innovative phone evaluation program to clients who are legally blind to improve their phone interview skills. The phone evaluation program is being offered by the agency to almost 100 state residents who are either college students or active job seekers, helping them successfully complete this crucial step in the interview process.

According to a survey by the American Foundation for the Blind, over three-quarters of the participants with visual disabilities were identified as not in the labor force. “While everyone is well aware that overall unemployment levels are high, it is even higher for the disabled, particularly vision-impaired individuals,” said Paul Bailo, MBA, MSW, Ph.D. (candidate), and Founder and CEO of Phone Interview Pro. “We have teamed up with the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind to provide vision-impaired job-seekers with training to help them succeed in acing a phone interview and improve their confidence level.”

“As our goal is to provide the highest-quality rehabilitation and social services to individuals who are blind, Phone Interview Pro gives our consumers the skills they need to ace a phone interview,” said Commissioner Janet LaBreck. “We want to assist those individuals who are legally blind to achieve their vocational objectives and bring them back to employment status.”

The fact that many employers are increasingly using phone interviews to screen prospective job candidates before calling them in for an in-person interview is becoming the norm. Those candidates who don’t pass the phone interview don’t get inside the door for a face-to-face interview with a hiring decision-maker.

As the author of The Essential Phone Interview Handbook, Bailo developed a phone interview evaluation to prepare candidates for this crucial step in the interview process. Those who participate in the evaluation receive a detailed, personalized analysis of their performance. The program is the only coaching resource of its kind and employs a 250+ point phone evaluation. The patent-pending algorithmic grading system is based on years of corporate recruiting research, human resources development and a massive database of phone interview test results.
