Designed to scan and validate 2D Data Matrix IUID barcodes using an Android device camera, the app decodes machine-readable codes, allowing users to verify correct syntax to MIL STD 130 and ISO standards.

“This app is particularly useful for military personnel who want to verify that contractor deliverables are MIL STD 130 compliant upon receipt.”

A2B Tracking, the leading provider of enterprise software and services for the U.S. Department of Defense IUID program, announces a new Android App for users of the company’s web-based data management software. Designed to scan and validate 2D Data Matrix IUID barcodes using an Android device camera, the app decodes machine-readable codes, allowing users to verify correct syntax to MIL STD 130 and ISO standards.

The new app also lets users spot-check UIDs for MIL STD 130 compliance, confirm successful data upload to the IUID Registry, and display human-readable UII (unique item identifier) information such as part and serial numbers.

“This app is particularly useful for military personnel who want to verify that contractor deliverables are MIL STD 130 compliant upon receipt,” said Product Manager Jim Daniels. “DMCA auditors will also use the app to check UID compliance prior to contract acceptance.

The new Android mobile app requires registration with A2B and a valid email address to be operable and is not meant to replace a dedicated 2D scanner or imager running appropriate software in high activity locations.

With over 3,000 tracking installations around the world, A2B Tracking is the largest U.S. Department of Defense IUID program partner and a leading provider of turnkey systems designed to accurately identify, mark and track mission-critical assets. The company’s core proprietary software was specifically developed to support MIL STD 130 and MIL STD 129 and is the most used IUID software in the defense community. Founded in 1994, A2B lead the bar code industry into mobile computing by developing advanced tracking solutions for UPS. Its principals include individuals who have been pioneering bar code innovations since the industry’s infancy in the 1960s.
