Website Enhancements Enable Doctors to Prescribe Relevant Text and Video Patient Education

We believe the enhanced user experience establishes 1-800-Therapist.com as a leading resource for trusted behavioral health information, enabling patients to make more informed decisions and actively participate in managing their health.

Austin, TX 1-800-Therapist, Inc. announced today the launch of 1-800-Therapist.com’s health video integration. In addition to 1-800-Therapist’s appointment management capabilities, Release 7.0 renders a superior user experience, combining both text and video content, designed to empower more effective doctor – patient conversations.

With the new site’s integration of Health Guru’s best-in-class health video content with doctor-reviewed behavioral health news from dailyRx, patients can interact with relevant, actionable content across multiple channels.

Joshua Silberstein, CEO of Health Guru added, “The 1-800-Therapist video integration is one of the most forward thinking and comprehensive we’ve worked on – it provides an elegant solution to the patient by seamlessly integrating traditional text information with rich video content.”

“We believe the enhanced user experience establishes 1-800-Therapist.com as a leading resource for trusted behavioral health information, enabling patients to make more informed decisions and actively participate in managing their health,” said Donald Hackett, CEO of 1-800-Therapist, Inc.

The 1-800-Therapist.com 7.0 new capabilities include:

  •     Easy-to-understand news from dailyRx.com
  •     Fully-integrated health videos from Health Guru
  •     Medications education center
  •     Enhanced social media integration including Facebook, Twitter and Google+

“1-800-Therapist’s pre-appointment audience is action-oriented,” said Hackett. “Whether searching for relevant health information or a local behavioral health provider, these patients need access to timely, accurate information.”

According to Manhattan Research’s Cybercitizen Health® v8.0 study, these “Pre-Visit Patients”—individuals who are online and searching for health information prior to a scheduled physician appointment—are 1.7 times more likely than eHealth consumers to discuss information found online with their doctor. “A well-informed patient makes each ‘ten-minute’ doctor appointment more productive," said Hackett.

Russell Ricci, MD, Chief Medical Officer added,“ 1-800-Therapist’s redesigned digital presence marks a step forward in achieving the company’s mission of empowering doctors to reduce the cost of health care delivery by 5%. 1-800-Therapist is transforming the 'digital front door’, fully integrating patient education into appointment management services.”

According to the Surgeon General, an estimated 23% of American adults –about 44 million people—suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. Major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder are among the 10 leading causes of disability in the United States. Mental disorders account for nearly 25 million annual doctors visits and cost the US nearly $150 billion each year in mental health services and lost productivity due to death or disability.
