SMC³ Connections 2012 to Prepare Attendees for Transportation’s Future, Successfully Managing Change

Connections 2012 in Chicago (June 26-29) offers attendees insights into global transportation trends, networking and learning opportunities.

SMC³ has announced the highlights of its quickly approaching Connections 2012 conference in Chicago, Ill. (held June 26-29, 2012). “From our keynote speaker—New York Times best-selling author Andy Andrews—to our sessions exploring emerging markets and trade practices; the changing multimodal shipping landscape; and technology trends in our industry, Connections 2012 is designed to help attendees prepare for a rapidly changing future,” said Jack E. Middleton, SMC³ president and CEO. “Attendees will have direct access to high-level experts and in-depth insights into how to proactively—and successfully—manage change,” he added.

Connections 2012 will feature a presentation from Doug Stotlar, president and CEO of Con-way, Inc., who successfully managed dramatic organizational and financial change in the company’s less-than-truckload unit, Conway Freight. (Con-way Freight increased its annual net profit from $28.9 million in 2010 to $119.8 million in 2011 and saw operating profit shoot up to $19.6 million in Q4 2011 from $1.8 million in Q4 2010.) Keynote speaker Andrews, who authored The Traveler’s Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success, will provide a lively guide to positive life moves. For his part, speaker Bill Bronrott, deputy administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, will advise attendees on coming federal regulations that will impact their businesses, fielding audience questions. “During Connections 2012, SMC³ is truly seeking to broaden the dialog and knowledge sharing between all our participants,” Middleton concluded.
