What happens when heartfelt, personal communication is crossed with cyber technology? A new website is born, packed full of gifts and greeting cards for volunteers.

Recognizing that volunteer cards aren’t available in stores, Rinehart recently commissioned the creation of a beautiful new website. Focused on professionals, the site caters to volunteer coordinators, teachers, nurses, hospice workers, humane societies and ministers. By right-sizing its product offerings, the company is able to keep costs down for its nonprofit clientele.

Located in Le Sueur, Minnesota, it takes two, inc. spent the last 29 years creating artistic products with meaningful messages. “For us it’s about recognizing volunteers,” says Kim Rinehart, president of it takes two, inc. “We’re proud of the fact that our customers can buy gifts for 75+ volunteers for less than $100.”

This year, when organizations look for ways to acknowledge their faithful volunteers they can shop online and find a wide variety of quality, thoughtfully created volunteer cards and gifts. Every product produced by it takes two, inc. is created, printed, and packaged in the U.S.A. “In this industry it’s always a battle to stay relevant. With nonprofits struggling and with National Volunteer Week quickly approaching, we think our timing is especially relevant,” says Rinehart.

Started in 1984 by a mother-daughter duo, it takes two founders Georgia Rettmer and Kimberly Rinehart are no strangers to volunteerism. Long before Georgia’s art and Kimberly’s creative writing combined to begin it takes two, inc., these women found joy serving as volunteers for organizations ranging from Meals on Wheels to Girl Scouts. “To us, this is just another way to give back to the community,” says Rinehart.

National Volunteer Week is celebrated April 15-21, 2012.
