WestBow Press, the strategic self-publishing division of the world’s largest Christian publisher, Thomas Nelson, Inc., announced author Amy Sorrells as the Grand Prize winner in the second annual Women of Faith Writing Contest. Sorrells’ manuscript, “Comfort and Salvation,” was selected from a pool of more than 650 entrants. The fiction title will be published through WestBow Press and will be given special consideration by Thomas Nelson.

“I admire and respect the Women of Faith organization and what it represents. Two years ago I attended their Indianapolis conference, but I couldn’t bring myself to enter the writing contest,” said Sorrells. “Both my mother and a friend of mine encouraged me to enter ‘Comfort and Salvation’ in this year’s contest. I’m so glad I took their advice, and am so honored to have won.”

“We were thrilled by the number of people who entered this year’s Women of Faith Writing Contest,” said Keith Ogorek, senior vice-president of marketing of Author Solutions, the publishing partner of WestBow Press. “We congratulate Amy Sorrells for writing such a great story and encourage all the entrants to keep writing and sharing their stories with the world.”

The 2011 Women of Faith Writing Contest was judged by representatives from Thomas Nelson Publishing and Live Event Management, Inc., the producers of Women of Faith. The contest was open to any author with an unpublished manuscript. Additional winners included:
