Not only did Level 5 Motorsports successfully defend their previous two wins in the famed 12 Hours of Sebring American Le Mans Series sports car race, but it did so with a pair of brand new Honda race cars.
After marking the worldwide debut of the new HPD ARX-03b in testing in February, the Scott Tucker-owned organization put on an amazing show while winning their class and earning the best finish among American Le Mans Series competitors in the grueling 12 hour race.
“We are very pleased with the new HPD cars,” said Tucker, a native of Leawood, Kansas. “We had a very busy off-season getting them ready to race, but the crew did a fantastic job and we came into the season ready to race.”
The win at Sebring set the tone for what is sure to be a tough test as Tucker and Level 5 defend their 2011 ALMS LPM2 class championship. The team backed up its 2010 LMPC title by winning the LMP2 title in its first season in that class. The team remains focused on continuing this successful run.
“We have worked hard to win races,” said Tucker. “When you win races, you win championships.”
With more than 100 podium finishes and 75 race wins to his credit, Tucker knows about winning.
Next up for the American Le Mans Series is The Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach, scheduled for April 13-14. The race will be broadcast live on ESPN 2 at 7:30 p.m. ET and will also be shown live on ESPN3.com or ALMS.com.
