Ohio web start-up's beta release wants to fix complicated computer purchasing problems. Quixby seeks to bring people back to their desktop.

We are geeks ourselves. We want people to embrace their geek and realize the value of building their own PC.

Quixby.com opens its doors for users to come and kick their tires; with the beta release of the project, anyone can come and see how easy it is to build a custom computer. Quixby automatically searches and price shops computer hardware from major retailers, all the while taking compatibility into account and filtering incompatible parts based on that. Quixby seeks to bring the computer enthusiast's knowledge to everyone, allowing people to build a computer for twice the power at half the cost of pre-built desktops.

Quixby raised its first seed round of $125,000 in November, which has led to the release of the first beta. With this release, the team hopes to hone the service to a much more suitable environment for both experienced and inexperienced users to get the most from it.

Moving forward with the beta, Quixby quickly plans to create solutions for PC gamers and further develop services for anyone seeking to find their perfect computer.
