Spotify is an amazing platform and this is a way of giving artists, especially those on a tight budget, the opportunity to gain access to such a massive potential audience.

A new Facebook application launched by digital music distribution specialists, Ditto Music, allows artists to get their music heard by millions of social network users – for free.
The innovative app enables musicians to submit a song to Ditto. If the user then shares the app with three Facebook friends, Ditto will register the track with Spotify for free. The more friends they sign-up, the faster they can get music on Spotify.
Lee Parsons, the CEO of the Nashville based company, said: “Spotify is an amazing platform and this is a way of giving artists, especially those on a tight budget, the opportunity to gain access to such a massive potential audience.
“It’s giving the artists a cost effective way to get their music out there, and it’s helping us to spread the word about the great service we have to offer. So we see this as a real win, win situation."
The integration of Spotify with Facebook means that musicians can now sell music online to a potential audience of more than 800 million users.
Ditto Music has championed the cause of unsigned musicians who, without the backing of a record label, find it difficult to get their work distributed on the major online music stores.
The company has had 11 UK top 40 singles with unsigned artists and was responsible for putting the first ever unsigned artist on Spotify, back in 2009. Over 30,000 artists worldwide now use Ditto Music to distribute their music to a range of online services such as Spotify, iTunes and Amazon.
The musicians who have used Ditto’s distribution service range from up-and-coming indie artists like Ed Sheeran and Maverick Sabre, to established names such as Paul Mccartney, Suzi Quatro and Prince.
About Ditto Music:
Ditto Music was established in 2005 and has grown to become the largest independent distributor of digital, mobile, ringtone and video content. The company supplies over 700 stores worldwide and in 2007, was responsible for the first-ever UK top 40 single by an unsigned artist; Koopa.
Since then, Ditto's innovative distribution model has posed an increasing threat to the major labels. Ditto Music's roster includes My Vitriol, Maverick Sabre, Tupac Shakur, Finch, Manfred Mann, Prince and Fairport Convention.
