Ronald McDonald House Charities make it possible for families to be there and support their loved ones.

Ultragloss will be donating a gift basket and gift certificate at Studio1Eleven’s Launch Party to raise money for Ronald McDonald Akron. Several local businesses have entered baskets and gift certificates to help raise funds for this reputable charity. The fundraiser will be held May 11, 2012 at 7:00pm. The event will take place at 1714 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Attendees are encouraged to purchase raffle tickets, enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and welcome Shannon Nelson’s hair studio re-opening after recovering from her brain surgery last August. 100% of the funds raised at the event will be donated to Ronald McDonald House charities.

When Nelson first opened her salon, she named it “Salon Head 2 Toe”. Not long after that she was told she had a brain tumor. Nelson has undergone four operations since August 5, 2011. After a long recovery, she wanted to reinvent herself and her company.

“After going through all of this, I just wanted to reinvent myself and my business. I wanted to show my family and friends what I have accomplished, despite what I have been through. I thought a party would be a great way to do that. I have lived in this community (Cuyahoga Falls) my entire life. I was raised here and now I’m raising my children here,” Nelson explains, “I chose to donate funds to Ronald McDonald House Akron because then I didn’t have to pick one illness to support and we would be contributing to the entire family. That is the funny thing about illness; I am not the only one who has suffered, my entire family has. If it wasn’t for their support, I don’t know where I would be. Ronald McDonald House Charities make it possible for families to be there and support their loved ones.”

Ronald McDonald House Akron has served the community for the past 26 years. This 20-bedroom home has accommodated over 240,000 people since its’ opening in January of 1985. RMH Akron provides temporary living arrangements for families with loved ones at Akron Children’s Hospital. Akron Children’s Hospital is a world-renowned facility that is recognized as the Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report.

Charity events like this help families stay close to their loved ones while they receive treatment. “I’m very eager to put everything together for this event and I hope our community comes out and helps us raise funds,” says Nelson. Local businesses such as The Beer Haus, Sun Seekers Tanning, Room 9 Boutique, Village Gardens, Enjoy Professional, E.C.P. Car Repair, Party Lite Candles, Sunless Glo Spray Tans, Jenny Adams- Ind. Regional Sales, Mary Kay Cosmetics, B. Lux Boutique, Rocco’s Pizza and Reserve Inn have all come together to raise money for families during their time of need.

“I am really excited about this event. It is a great cause and a chance to get together with great people,” Ultragloss founder, Steve Marble, exclaims, “like Shannon, I was raised in this area and I am raising my family here. I think it is great when we all get together to do something positive for the community and I’m very appreciative that Shannon got the ball rolling on this one and I look forward to helping any way I can.”
