The Denver Business Journal has named Sage Restaurant Group’s co-founder and chief operating officer, Peter Karpinski, as one of its Forty Under 40 honorees for 2012. The annual award recognizes 40 of Denver’s young, dynamic business leaders in a variety of professional fields.
More than 300 individuals vied for the honor, an increase of more than 100 over last year for this 16th annual award. Nominees were judged on their business leadership, accomplishments and community involvement.
Karpinski was recognized for his passion for creating distinct dining experiences and his commitment to improving the lives of Denver area children and young adults. His work with at-risk youth and education-focused organizations in Denver includes involvement with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Colorado, Denver Kids, Inc., Metropolitan State College of Denver, Team Sweat Equity and the Denver Active 20/30 Children’s Foundation.
Karpinski has overseen the launch of nine award-winning Sage Restaurant Group concepts in less than five years, including The Corner Office and Second Home Kitchen + Bar in Denver, Mercat a la Planxa in Chicago, IL, Urban Farmer, the Brasserie in Pittsburgh, PA, Temple in Providence, RI, and Toasted Oak Grill & Market in Novi, MI, a suburb of Detroit.
