New York, NY (PRWEB) April 09, 2012
Italian wine sales now represent 22% of the global market, according to Italian national statistics agency ISTAT. Exports by volume were also up by 9%. With the export market being such an integral part of Italian wine sales, the Vinitaly in the US Tour has changed its format for the United States market.
In the past, the tour generally took place in the fall which was a harder time for importers who were focused on sales instead of tastings. The tour has now been moved to the spring. Additionally, Vinitaly is now working with US importers as part of the tour, involving them in the roadshows as an integral part of the tasting, both through educational seminars and walk around tastings.
“Importers are a crucial link in the distribution chain for Italian producers. Veronafiere recognized their ever increasing importance in the past years and we have been working to meet their needs and to develop a closer link to the trade,” said Stevie Kim, General Coordinator of the Vinitaly In The World Tour and Senior Advisor to Veronafiere CEO Giovanni Mantovani.
"Being involved in Vinitaly is an important aspect of our business strategy. As an importer of some of the most lauded Italian wine families, the event enables us to directly connect with leading US trade buyers, sommeliers, and gatekeepers, to showcase the breadth and diversity of our portfolio, and to drive the continued growth of Italian wines in the US market," Noted David Francke, General Manager & Partner, Folio Fine Wine Partners.
"As an importer and distributor focused on promoting Italian wine and culture, this event will promote quality wines available in the marketplace. If you were not able to attend the show in Verona, make sure you have this on your calendar," said William P. Hayde,
Senior Vice President, Senior Brand Manager of Martin Scott Wines, Ltd.
The Vinitaly In the World Tour is in its 15th year and the US stop is one of the countries on the tour. Vinitaly In the World has set its sights on increasing Italian wine sales in China and is an official partner of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) which organizes the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair
