American Importers Considered an Integral Part of US Vinitaly in the World Tour

2012 Marks a New Season for the Anticipated Vinitaly Wine Tasting

Italian wine sales now represent 22% of the global market, according to Italian national statistics agency ISTAT. Exports by volume were also up by 9%. With the export market being such an integral part of Italian wine sales, the Vinitaly in the US Tour has changed its format for the United States market.

In the past, the tour generally took place in the fall which was a harder time for importers who were focused on sales instead of tastings. The tour has now been moved to the spring. Additionally, Vinitaly is now working with US importers as part of the tour, involving them in the roadshows as an integral part of the tasting, both through educational seminars and walk around tastings.

“Importers are a crucial link in the distribution chain for Italian producers. The Vinitaly In the World Tour is in its 15th year and the US stop is one of the countries on the tour. Vinitaly In the World has set its sights on increasing Italian wine sales in China and is an official partner of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) which organizes the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair
