Santa Ana, CA (PRWEB) April 06, 2012
The City of Santa Ana has selected Orange County Auto Parts (OCAP) as the City’s sole-source consignment supplier of automotive and truck parts for all maintenance work performed on City fleet vehicles. OCAP will be working closely with the Finance Department Facilities-Fleet Management-Central Stores (FMCS) Division to implement the new program.
This unprecedented move is part of the City’s strategy to close a $30 million budget deficit. By using a sole-source contract, the City is able to streamline the parts ordering process since it would deal with only one instead of multiple vendors. FMCS, Purchasing, and Accounts Payable labor costs would be significantly reduced. The City also minimizes inventory carrying costs since stock is provided on a consignment basis and the City pays only for what is consumed.
Orange County Auto Parts has operated its Santa Ana operation since 1925 and has a long and distinguished record of supply and service experience in the municipal environment. Under the OCAP contract, FMCS will have full access to over 400,000 automotive and truck parts under the NAPA catalogue, all available through a network of local distribution.
According to Orange County Auto Parts owner Mark Akoubian, “It is a great honor to be chosen as sole supplier to such a great partner as The City of Santa Ana. While this project will take a great collaborative effort, the cost saving benefits will be greatly appreciated by the taxpayers and citizens of our great city.”
