MiniWarGaming, a small miniature wargaming business located in Canada, was pleasantly surprised when their campaign goal of $10,000 (designed to help them make their first line of miniatures) was surpassed in the first 4 hours, with over $30,000 being raised in the first 48 hours of their 30 day campaign, all thanks to the fanatical support of their online community.

It has always been our dream to create our own line of miniatures, and with the help of IndieGoGo and a fantastic community, we are finally able to do so.

MiniWarGaming was pleasantly surprised to find that the community that they had been serving for over four years was ready to help them get their latest project off of the ground.

To gain the funding, Matthew Glanfield, co-owner of MiniWarGaming decided to start an IndieGoGo.com campaign. IndieGoGo is a platform that allows small businesses and individuals to gain funding from contributors interested in seeing their projects succeed.

"It has always been our dream to create our own line of miniatures, and with the help of IndieGoGo and a fantastic community, we are finally able to do so," says Matthew.

MiniWarGaming's original goal was to raise $10,000 in 30 days. This would be used to create their first set of 5 miniatures. "Most of the initial cost goes into the concept artists and sculptors," says Matthew. "Once that is done, the miniatures are relatively inexpensive to produce."

Much to their surprise, MiniWarGaming hit their $10,000 goal within four hours, doubled it at $20,000 within 24 hours, and more than tripled it to $30,000 within 48 hours. With 28 days left to go in the campaign Matthew has high hopes that he will have more than enough to produce even more miniatures, and to make sure that those he does produce have as much quality as possible.

"The community funding model is perfect for small businesses that have a hard time getting a large amount of capital," Matthew comments, "and allows for customers to really show what they want in a way that highly impacts the businesses they love."

Matthew hopes to raise at least $50,000, with which he will more fully develop the models from this new range.
