We have already exceeded last year's registration numbers the first two weeks of this year’s early registration, and the fun, this year will be off the hook!

The 2012 80’s Retro Run 5K, the Fit5280 Get Out and Get Active traditional run, will be held at Sloans Lake on Sunday, August 26th in Denver, Colorado.

This great event raises money to support Colorado Youth at Risk. Colorado Youth at Risk empowers teenage students to make life choices that positively impact their future through community-based mentoring and intensive training. Colorado Youth at Risk aims to reduce the number of high school dropouts, match students with an adult mentor and provide students with a sense of the future and their place in that future.

Runners (or purposeful walkers!) in this popular race – approximately 3.2 miles – take off at 10:30am from the south west corner of the Sloans Lake Park. They follow a loop course around the butifull Sloans Lake finishing at the 80’s after party that will not be forgotten.

A registration fee of $25 – $35 includes a t-shirt, refreshments and a chance to win prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the top winners in each of category. Online Registration is open at

Fit5280 is donating almost all of the expenses, with help from a great group of sponsors who believe in a good time for a great cause,” says Fit5280 owner Levi Scullion. “We had talked about this run concept for years and pulled it together for the first time last year. We had more than 250 runners – and a lot of fun. We have already exceeded that number in the first two weeks of this year’s registration, and the fun, this year will be off the hook!” he adds.

Dig out your banana clips and acid washed jeans for the kitschy, energetic, family fun, 80s inspired totally '80s 5K & after party. Participants will also enjoy a post-race festival, '80s music, a costume contest (there is even a prize for best dressed pet) and break dancers.
