“This partnership gives patients and physicians in the region access to world class clinicians and technology that can provide these diagnoses accurately.”

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) April 05, 2012
Foundation Radiology Group is pleased to announce it has entered into an agreement with United Radiology, a diagnostic imaging service provider with locations in Greenbelt and Rockville, Maryland. United Radiology offers unique and minimally invasive services including: Positron Tomography (PET), Computed Tomography (CT) and Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) and is the Mid-Atlantic regions only provider of cardiac PET (Rubidium). This partnership will provide the region access to a premier group of Joint Commission accredited, board certified and fellowship trained radiologists.
These cutting-edge technologies can yield details often otherwise unattainable that can be invaluable to physicians when planning a patient’s treatment plan. However, a study by the National Oncologic PET Registry (NOPR), found that only 56% of PET/CT reads actually address the desired clinical indication. The key to taking advantage of the numerous benefits of PET/CT and CTA imaging and dramatically increasing the clinical accuracy rates is through a highly-trained imaging team that can interpret and report the information like those of United Radiology and Foundation.
Dr. Todd Blodgett, a Foundation radiologist and fellowship trained molecular imaging specialist stated, “The challenge with PET/CT actually lies in the unique information it yields. Physicians must be trained in both PET imaging/nuclear medicine as well as radiology, in order to interpret and provide the most accurate diagnoses.” Dr. Blodgett added, “This partnership gives patients and physicians in the region access to world class clinicians and technology that can provide these diagnoses accurately.”
The experience and skill provided by United Radiology and Foundation Radiology Group can save patients from unnecessary, invasive procedures, and can help to expedite their treatment plan. The partnership between will maximize the portfolio of specialized imaging services available to patients and referring physicians and change the “commodity” perception of radiology in local communities.
“The partnership with United Radiology presents a very unique opportunity, “said Tom Skelton, CEO, Foundation Radiology Group. “Comprehensive PET/CT, CTA and Cardiac PET imaging capabilities are not often supported by local providers in many communities. Being able to enhance United Radiology’s presence in the Rockville and Greenbelt market extends our mission of revolutionizing the practice of radiology in the community healthcare setting.”
