The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Adult Literacy Survey, U.S. Department of Education, and The National Institute of Heath; confirm that 1 out of 5 Americans have a reading and writing disability. In which, 70% of those persons have dyslexia. The percentage of dyslexics in America has not changed in spite of educational and psychological advancements in the last 100 years. There are many adults in the world today that still do not know that they’re dyslexic. “What if you learned that you were dyslexic?” “You would write a book of course,” says Richard “Dick” W. Kraemer author of a new book Dyslexic Dick – True Adventures of My World.

This autobiography is about a dyslexic boy growing up in the mid-1960’s in Orange County New York. The problem for Dick is that he doesn’t know that he has dyslexia; he thinks he has a bad case of stupidity. This situation turns into series of often funny, suspenseful, dramatic, and emotional stories, as he meets the threshold of manhood.. The book’s website is at http://www.dyslexicdick.com/

The author said, “One of the reasons I wrote Dyslexic Dick – True Adventures of My World was the challenge it presented to me. All my life, I had struggled with reading and writing. Even during college, I barely squeaked by English to earn my degree. I loved to write stories, but my professors were not interested in the story, only the correct English protocol for scoring. Then years later after discovering what dyslexia really was and the effect it had on my life, I took on the biggest challenge of my life. I decided to write a book about my life. After I finished, I let a few people read it and they loved it. I then reflected on my childhood story, and realized that it was a funny and exciting life I had lived. If it were a boring story, I would have never published it. Because I might be many things but boring was not one of them. The next volume of the Dyslexic Dick series is due out in the spring 2013.”
