The Embassy Suites Hotel Seattle North/Lynnwood hotel has partnered with Hilton Hotels Corporation – the first major multi-brand company in the hospitality industry to make sustainability measurement and improvement a brand standard - through the use of LightStay.

LightStay is a proprietary system developed to calculate and analyze sustainability performance by measuring multiple utility and operational metrics such as energy, water, carbon, housekeeping, paper product usage, waste, chemical storage, air quality, and transportation. “This system also includes a “meeting impact calculator” which calculates the sustainability of any meeting or conference held at our hotel”, says Julie Horrigan, Director of Sales and Catering.

“We are also partnering with Hilton on another effort and are involved in The Global Soap Project. This organization collects discarded soap from hotels, reprocesses it into new bars and distributes them to vulnerable populations throughout the world,” according to Vern Heitzenrader, General Manager.

“Overall, we operate our hotel in a manner using “Green Housekeeping and Maintenance Practices” and efficient recycling practices, including recycling food waste which is provided to a local company that reprocesses the waste into mulch; we then buy it back for use in our indoor garden atrium and on the grounds”, said Heitzenrader.

The Embassy Suites Seattle North/Lynnwood hotel features 240 two-room suites and 10,000 square feet of meeting space. The property features Embassy Suites’ signature flowing water features and a rich, organic five-story Atrium. The hotel amenities include McCarthy’s bar & grille, Tully’s Coffee, fitness facility outfitted with all Precor® equipment, indoor pool, sundry/gift shop, and business center. It is owned and managed by Windsor Hotel Group in Santa Monica, CA.
